Restylane Lyft is the first and only dermal filler to be FDA approved for both mid-face volume loss and nasolabial folds.
Restylane Refyne, along with Restylane Defyne (described separately), are the two newest additions to the Restylane line of dermal fillers. The original Restylane was the first dermal filler approved by the FDA in 2006. Refyne was approved by the FDA in December 2016. Refyne is used to correct marionette lines that drop downward from the corners of the mouth and nasolabial folds that run from the nose down to the mouth. Refyne is specifically formulated to treat mild to moderate lines and wrinkles.
If your lines and creases around your nose and mouth aren’t overly deep, Refyne is a good option for adding volume. Thanks to the product characteristics, patients won’t find their natural expressions are unnaturally hindered. Refyne lasts for up to one year. As with all fillers, your results are immediate, and there is no recovery time. Patients should avoid rubbing the injection sites for 24 hours.
Restylane Defyne was the other new Restylane filler approved by the FDA in December 2016. Defyne was also created to correct marionette lines, parentheses lines, and nasolabial folds. However, Defyne is intended for moderate to severe creases and lines, where more volume is necessary.
The gel in Defyne is also cross-linked, so the filler doesn’t block the formation of your natural expressions in the mouth area. Despite Defyne returning significant volume to deep creases in the area, you’ll still be able to smile, frown, and move your mouth normally.
Am I a candidate for facial fillers?
Patients who want to add lift and volume to their cheeks or smooth their nasolabial folds may be good candidates for Restylane Lyft.
How long do the results last?
Restylane Lyft is one of the longest lasting hyaluronic acid gel fillers on the market, with patients in clinical trials reporting results that lasted for up to a full year. Lyft can also be combined with other fillers and neuromodulators, such as Botox, in a procedure known colloquially as a “liquid facelift.” A liquid facelift can provide a full face rejuvenation, taking years off the appearance in a completely non-invasive manner.
What is recovery like from facial fillers?
Many people nowadays don’t have the time to spare for the lengthy operation time and weeks of recovery time needed for a surgical facelift and prefer to have a more subtle, non-invasive liquid facelift that requires little to no recovery time and can often be completed in an hour or less. When will I see results?
If you have deep creases around your nose and mouth, Restylane Defyne is a good option. It adds extra volume to fill these deeper signs of aging. Defyne adds volume for up to one year. As with all Restylane® fillers, your results are immediate, and there is no recovery time. Patients should avoid rubbing the injection sites for 24 hours.
