School Is Here: How to Get Your Preteens and Teens Skin Ready for School

If you look back on your junior high and high school years, you may have some fond memories, and you may have some ones that are a bit more awkward. As your body changes during these years, it can cause a variety of different issues such as acne. If you have some teens or preteens who are starting to get some acne, they may be a little bit self-conscious about going back to school with some new pimples. Let’s take a closer look at a few tips you can use to help them fight their pimples.

Bring Them Into Our Office
One of the best things that you can do is bring your kids into our office to have their skin looked at. Although most preteen and teen acne are caused by the onset of hormones and oil production, it can result in a variety of different types of acne including cysts, nodules, pimples, nodules, papules, whiteheads, and blackheads. Once we identify the exact nature of acne they have, we can start treatment.

Teach Them How to Wash Their Face
Chances are, your preteen doesn’t know how to wash their face thoroughly. Get them an acne-fighting cleanser and teach them how to wash their face using a cleanser and warm water gently. This simple step can go a long way when it comes to combating oil, germs, and acne-causing bacteria.

Get Them Face Wipes
In between gym class and after school sports, your kids’ faces can get sweaty and dirty, which can lead to acne breakouts. Get your kid some face wipes that they can use after they get sweaty so that they are less likely to get a breakout because of it.

The sooner you treat your kids’ acne, the better. To learn more tips and tricks, contact our Santa Monica office and call 310-829-4104.
