Fall Skin Care Challenge

With the holidays just around the corner, your mind is probably on spending time with friends and family— both of which are important. However, many people neglect to take care of all parts of their lives during the holidays— including their skin— which leaves them more prone to acne breakouts, cracked skin, dry skin, and more. That’s why we at Dermatology Institute & Skin Care Center have created this fall skincare challenge.

Drink Enough Water
Even though the holidays are all about the more, the merrier, make sure that you don’t just drink more and more alcohol. Although drinks like red wine contain health benefits, they can also dehydrate you and your skin. Try drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day, and your skin will thank you.

Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
Even though you’re likely not spending your days by the pool or at the beach, make sure that you are wearing sunscreen every day. People tend to forget the sunscreen when the colder weather strikes which leave them more susceptible to sun damage and even skin cancer. As a suggestion, try to find a moisturizer that contains a sunscreen— that way you can kill two birds with one stone.

Keep Your Skin Moisturized
As the temperature drops, your skin is more prone to drying out. Make sure that you are keeping your skin moisturized and applied a thick moisturizing cream to your face and body both morning and night.

Try Pumpkin
Pumpkin isn’t just for eating— in fact, pumpkin contains antioxidants and other vitamins that are great for restoring your skin and encouraging skin cell turnover. You can either apply raw pumpkin directly to your skin, or you can buy products that contain pumpkin.

Take our fall skin care challenge and use the tips listed above. Schedule your dermatology appointment with our Santa Monica office to learn more.
