Clinical Science Institute is a comprehensive clinical research center under the direction of Dr. Paul Yamauchi. For the past decade, Dr. Yamauchi has served as a principal investigator for numerous clinical trials, focusing his expertise in dermatology. Dr. Yamauchi is widely regarded as an outstanding clinical research investigator nationally. In addition to being a lead investigator, he has also served on advisory panels designing protocols for various clinical trials that ultimately have lead to the FDA approval of various medications.
Clinical Science Institute offers cutting edge technology in the research and treatment of various skin diseases including psoriasis, acne, rosacea, eczema, skin cancer, and other medical skin conditions. Our center conducts various clinical trials on medications being evaluated by the FDA and not currently on the market. Participating in a clinical trial offers hope to patients who have undergone several forms of treatment for their condition that have been unsuccessful. In addition, for people without health insurance, clinical trials offer treatment for their condition when they could otherwise not receive treatment. Patients who participate in clinical trials are compensated for their time and effort. Our research center conducts clinical trials to the highest standards by board certified physicians and conforms to all the rules and regulations set forth by the FDA.
Clinical Science Institute as been conducting clinical trials for over 20 years in medical, cosmetic and device dermatology. We are currently offering cutting-edge studies to treat skin conditions such as but not limited to:
- Acne Vulgaris
- Atopic Dermatitis
- Skin Cancer
- Unwanted growths
- Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
“By participating in clinical trials, we’re on the cutting edge of technology and know what’s on the forefront to treat various skin conditions. We understand the mechanisms of action for these drugs, know which ones work, and to an extent, their safety profiles. Any patient with or without health insurance can get study related medical care at no cost through participating in clinical trials.”

In addition, Clinical Science Institute has conducted numerous trials in rejuvenation. These have included cosmetic procedures such as Botox, new fillers to treat wrinkles, topical creams to reverse the aging process, and advanced laser procedures for skin tightening, acne scars, and to revitalize the skin.

All clinical trials are performed under the guidance of the principles of Good Clinical Practice and are under the auspices of an Institutional Review Board. Clinical Science Institute employs the best study coordinators to ensure the safety in these trials and maintain the highest level of satisfaction to our patients at our facility.
Why Participate in Research
Clinical research can change lives by helping find new or improved treatments. Because of willingness to get involved in studies, medications are available to those in need. Studies help answer questions about investigational medicines.
- Help develop a future beneficial medicine
- Receive close monitoring and access to care
- Help find cures and treatments
What is a Clinical Trial?
A clinical trial is a research study that involves human volunteers to investigate new medicines and treatment options. Clinical trials are the most effective method in discovering successful treatments for medical conditions. Participation in a research study is always voluntary.
In most clinical trials the treatment, office visits, and tests are at no cost to the participant. In some cases, participants may also receive compensation for time and travel. A doctor or the study coordinator at the doctor’s office should share information on participating in clinical trials and the compensation package during your first visit.
Why Participate in a Clinical Trial?
Participants in clinical trials can play a more active role in their own health care, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and help others by contributing to medical research. There are many reasons people take part in research studies.
In many cases, it gives participants access to a medicine/treatment that is not currently available. If this is the case, it is always important to keep in mind that the study is being performed to determine the safety and efficacy of the treatment, which means that there is some information that is unknown about this treatment and it is considered experimental.
Your participation in a study may benefit you directly by providing you with a more effective treatment, and the information collected as a result of your participation may be eventually be used to help other people with the same condition. Many research participants get satisfaction from knowing that they are part of an effort that may reduce the suffering of others.
If you are interested, please call (310) 828-8887 to find out what clinical trials are currently being conducted and to find out if you qualify to participate in these trials. In most instances, monetary compensation for time and travel may be provided to those who participate in clinical trials.
