Prurigo Nodularis

Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a skin condition where extremely itchy bumps and nodules appear on your skin as a result of constant picking and scratching. PN appears on the arms, legs, trunk, and buttocks, but fortunately spares the face and palms/soles. It is more common in middle-aged to older individuals and can be associated with eczema, diabetes, kidney disease, Hepatitis C, and HIV. To treat PN, we must break the itch-scratch cycle with medications including antihistamines, topical medications, intralesional steroid injections, and biologic agents approved for PN, such as Dupixent and Nemluvio.
